J.C Tran, Justin Cuong Van Tran, is known for his nickname ‘just call’. He has a way of calling just about anything to see a little bit of action.
J.C Tran was born on January 20, 1977, in Vietnam. Although he was born in Vietnam he didn’t stay in Vietnam. He is a Vietnam-American poker player who has situated himself in the lovely Sacramento, California. Tran has had several career milestones that he has passed including being a two-time bracelet World Series of Poker winner, and even the winner of the World Championship of Online Poker. He has made the World Poker Tour final tables a total of five times altogether. He has won a World Poker Tour title and was named the World Poker Tour player of the year in their fifth season of being on the air. Another achievement that he has made is winning the World Poker Challenge.
J.C. Tran was not born a poker genius. His surroundings and his parents have helped with that. He was born in Vietnam as the youngest of eight children. When he was two J.C Tran and his family moved to America where he got his schooling. He eventually received a degree in Business Management from the California State University in Sacramento.
J.C. Tran has finished high in the money in several tournaments that he participated in. That piqued his interest when he realized he can win some pretty big money doing something that comes naturally to him. He finished fifth in the World Poker Finals in 2004. He also placed in the L.A. Poker Classic, which he also placed fifth, the 2005 Borgata Poker Open, and the 2004 L.A. Poker Classic. Those four events that he placed were featured on the World Poker Tour television series which helped get his name out there.
He has also made the final tables in three World Series of Poker. He has finished 117 both of those years. But although he might not have made too much in those events he ended up placing second in the ‘World Series of Poker circuit event’ in which he won over $250,000. On October 2, 2006, in the Poker Stars tournament, he had won the main event which earned him $670,000. So far, those two wins alone replaced any loss that he has taken so far, but it’s not over yet. J.C Tran has won numerous events in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007. In 2007 he was named the World Poker Tours Player of The Year. This was a big deal for him due to the fact that he has lost before.
One of the most memorable moments for J.C Tran was the first bracelet he had won. He achieved this accomplishment on June 30, 2008, at the 2008 World Series of Poker event. J.C Tran ended up taking home $631,170 in winnings that night alone. As of 2009 J.C Tran’s total live tournament winnings equal up to roughly seven million eight hundred thousand.
So from rags to riches J.C Tran has earned everything that has come his way. He might not have had the greatest start, but so far he has been ending great. He never gave up on slowly becoming the best, and he never will.
